Since the original Game Boy system was released,
so many years ago, many things have changes with handheld
gaming systems. The most popular handheld console has long
been the Nintendo DS, among children and those who prefer
Nintendo over its primary competitor, Sony PSP.
With the many new features of the latest version of the DS,
Nintendo DSi, fans are sure to be excited. |
Like previous versions of the DS, the DSi features a durable clam
shell design and two interior LCD screens. It makes sense, since
these features are some of the biggest selling points of the portable
system. The plastic clam shell helps the system withstand a great
deal of abuse - great for clumsy young fingers and hands; the two
screens allow for greater game play flexibility and many very cool
options. Therefore, fans of the original incarnations of the Nintendo
DS will not be disappointed by the basic layout of this latest system.
The Nintendo DSi, though, does boast a good deal of compelling
new features that will thrill long time fans - and draw in many
new ones. Largely in response to the long time features offered
by its rival - the Sony PSP - Nintendo has equipped the DSi with
excellent wireless capabilities. Anywhere where there is a WiFi
"hot spot", DSi users can connect to the Internet with
their slick new device.
While the DSi features two screens - one of them a touchscreen
- like earlier versions, the ones on this device are larger, allowing
for clearer and more engaging graphics. It also facilitates another
one of the biggest changes in this new console - it has two separate
cameras for users to enjoy. One is located on the hinge and faces
the user; the other is on the outer shell. The DSi can be used to
take pictures which can then be stored on SD cards which can be
inserted in the convenient slots located on the back.
Like Nintendo Wii, you can use the DSi to log on to a "DS Shop"
and purchase games, and more using "Nintendo Points".
This enables players to install game updates, purchase entirely
new games, or try out different kinds of applications. This feature
is sure to please any DS fan. With the DSi, Nintendo now offers
one of the most vigorous handheld system ever.
