Only several years ago, I was amazed by the price of card compact flash memory for my digital camera.

My family was planning a journey, and I needed a larger space card that I might fill with pictures. At present, I'm still flabbergasted but that's due to how incredibly reasonable the cards have become.

Uses of Card Compact Flash
The Card Compact Flash cards can really come in convenient now. The new digital camera I obtained uses them, even though my daughter's Sony camera only takes the proprietary memory stick storage. Almost every other digital camera on the market uses these flash memory cards. They are able to save a large number of photos, but remember the higher megapixel rating of your pictures the larger the file is going to be.

Many of the MP3 players on the market are also uses card compact flash as a way to expand their capacity. This is a nice option for people who don't really know how much music and video storage space they need or for people who want to be able to exchange cards with other people as a way to share their musical tastes. Again, you're going to need a pretty large capacity for this purpose. Smaller ones can work well for this purpose unless you're going to be transferring large amounts of files.

Choosing the Right Card Compact Flash
One nice thing about this type of memory is that most of them are rated very high with consumers regardless of their manufacturer. Back when I purchased a 1 GB card for my digital camera, I paid $50 in a retail store.

Price is no longer a reason to choose the lesser known manufacturers. A 2 GB Sandisk Ultra II card costs less than $8 while the 4 GB model costs less than $18. While the price is a little bit more than doubled, it's still a pretty good deal. Now if you're going to be using this flash memory in a camera or MP3 player, your best bet is to get the largest storage capacity possible for your budget. At the highest capacity levels, prices do go up pretty high.

For example, the SanDisk Extreme III 32 GB version prices a hefty $216. That's more than what most digital cameras and MP3 players cost. Though, when you require the storage space, you might not consider it's such a bad deal for card compact flash memory.
