In today’s world, concerts have become
a very important mode of marketing. Music bands perform live
shows for their fans to make them aware of their upcoming
album releases.
While the fans get an opportunity to meet their favorite
artists, the musicians get the chance to promote their new
venture.
If the audience likes the new music, they will surely proceed
to buy the album when it hits the music stores. |
In fact most concert tours have the same name as the music album.
Therefore, we can see how concerts serve twin purposes.
Listening to your favorite band live has always had an amazing
appeal to the fans. Inspite of the fact that one will be able to
listen to the music properly in their stereo system or in the music
video, fans invariably always prefer to listen to it live. The total
chaos with everyone singing along with the performers has a charm
of its own and nobody can deny this fact. This happens especially
in the case of rock concerts where the magic of the words “do
you feel the music” can be sensed when the whole crowd swoons
with the band.
The common thread running through different forms of concerts is
that all concerts are to be performed live in front of the audience.
Whether the music played in the concert is classical, jazz or contemporary
the musicians are ready to show their expertise live for the audience
without any support of the sound studios. Concerts generally take
place in large venues so that it can hold maximum number of audience
members. Huge auditoriums like Madison Square Garden in New York
or Tokyo’s Bigg Egg and large theaters provide the right ambience
for a concert.
However, there are occasions when responsible bands come out to
perform live shows in order to benefit some charitable cause. The
money that is collected from the sold out tickets is given to aid
charitable causes like AIDS or cancer awareness programs. There
some other concert types where there is a whole list of bands performing
like in Coachella, Rocklahoma or Country Thunder. These programs
are generally referred to as festivals, which fans will often make
cross-country pilgrimages to attend. In these festivals fans are
spoilt for choice because the can listen to a variety of music under
the same roof.
